Birmingham's Baroque cathedral of St Philip sits amongst the elegant buildings of Colmore Row and the modern high rises of the surrounding city. Built between 1710 and 1725 under the design of architect Thomas Archer, the cathedral reflects the rise of Birmingham as a city at the cutting edge of design.
